Summer 2021 Place Issue (#113) + Cover Poster Bundle
This product is currently sold out.
A bundle with a view! Issue 113 and cover poster for only $20.
We are thrilled to commemorate the OA’s vibrant, expansive future and our sustained commitment to Southern storytelling with these fine art pieces.
These limited-run 11x14 prints and posters feature art by Dinorá Justice, whose piece Collage 18-03 - after Matisse’s “Yellow Odalisque 1937” covers the Summer Place Issue. The work is from a series of portraits Justice began in response to “the biases regarding traditional associations of nature with the feminine,” she writes, which allows for the continued “subjugation and exploitation” of nature. Her work encompasses the issue’s exploration of Southern landscapes, waterways, and borderlands, evident in Neesha Powell-Twagirumukiza’s journey to Georgia’s coast and Lauren Stroh’s reflections on Hurricane Laura.
Issue 113 marks the first helmed by Danielle A. Jackson as editor-in-chief, inaugurating a new and momentous era for the Oxford American. Jackson is the first Black editor-in-chief in the OA’s twenty-nine-year history, having joined the magazine as managing editor in February 2020.
The Oxford American’s Summer Place Issue explores Southern landscapes, waterways, borderlands, and disappearing coasts. This limited edition 11x14 poster features the Issue 113 cover with original artwork by Dinorá Justice. Her piece Collage 18-03 - after Matisse’s “Yellow Odalisque 1937” is part of a series of portraits examining our relationship with the environment and the enduring effects of climate change.
